The challenge
Critical features on a brake pad are its ability to provide the necessary friction when brakes are applied, alternatively too much friction may be detrimental. For a motorcycle wheel flatness accuracy of the installation parts is necessary since the brake pad is directly mounted on the wheel.

The solution
Smart Sensor ZS can provide non-contact solution and stable measurement for metal part. By spinning the wheel, the analog value of the distance to the surface is measured. For the hole detection simultaneously a photoelectric sensor is used.

The controller has built-in function of flatness calculation ("Max - Min" of measurement data).

Added value
With the laser displacement sensor there is a stable measurement without scratching the surface. Furthermore the controller has a built-in function of flatness calculation, which is more cost-effective because it is unnecessary to use a PLC or digital panel meter.
