Recruiting and retaining operators to loading cartons in a carton tray forming machine is quite a challenge for producers in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry.
Inser Robótica S.A. recognised the need for such automatic loading of case erectors. They developed a collaborative robot cell solution, COBOLOADER, helping to improve the end-of-line efficiency and enhancing safety using OMRON collaborative robots. The unique system is specifically designed to reliably place a stack of cartons onto the belt conveyor, which serves as a feeder magazine for the automatic case erector.
The COBOLOADER offers several key advantages:
- It provides the flexibility to adapt to a wide variety of carton erecting machines.
- The system has a small footprint, measuring only 2,500mm in length by 1,800mm in width.
- It requires minimal maintenance, operating up to 35,000 hours without the need for greasing.
- The COBOLOADER achieves high productivity, processing up to 40 boxes per minute, depending on the type and dimensions of the box.
- It is designed for low energy consumption, using only 400W of power and less than 6 liters per hour of compressed air.
Thanks to OMRON's collaborative robots, the safety aspect of the cell is ensured, allowing for smooth human-machine collaboration. The system includes several scanners that automatically reduce the operating speed when a person approaches the work area. This innovative solution allows the COBOLOADER to offer its customers increased machine autonomy, improved operator ergonomics, a small automation footprint, and a quick return on investment.
